ArtWalk Kingston Open Studio Tour, Kingston, NY, September 23-24, 2017

Celebrate the arts and artists in their own environments at the ArtWalk Kingston Open Studio Tour, September 23 -24, 2017.

Over the course of two days, visitors and local residents are invited to explore three distinct areas of the City of Kingston and immerse themselves in a range of art and events.

Paintings, photographs, drawings and sculptures are just some of the mediums that will be on display at home studios and galleries across the City. Performers are invited to schedule performances to include during the tour.

Whether you have a few hours or a full day, ArtWalk Kingston will offer a broad range of art and activities for all.

The walk will be held from 12pm-5pm each day and will feature over 100 artists in private studios, galleries and special events.

There will be traditional artisans such as furniture makers, faux finishers, plasterers and millwork, as well as the latest in green solutions such as geo-thermal systems, solar alternatives and eco-friendly building products. Visit exhibitotors featuring AV systems, energy efficient appliances, whole house generators, wine cellars and so much more for the home.

There will even be experts in landscape design and related products available to help you put the finishing touches on your home’s surroundings such as fencing , weathervanes, saunas and pools.

The 2017 FineHome Source show will also feature a Plein Air Art Event & Auction. 25 artists will be on site and create paintings inspired by their surroundings. At the end of the day, all the paintings will be available for purchase in a silent auction.

Crisp Architects hopes that you will join them at this event under the tents to meet the exhibitors as well as enjoy the ongoing demonstrations throughout the day. A $2 suggested donation benefits The Millbrook Rotary Shelter Box program.

Block Printing on Fabric with Jen Hewett, Drop Forge & Tool, Saturday, January 21, 2017

Start the New Year perfecting your creative skills or acquiring new ones like Block Printing on Fabric—something soul-filling that you have wanted to do for a very long time, but have put off because of other responsibilities and commitments.

Workshop: Have you ever wanted to print your own fabric for your craft and DIY projects? In this class and with a few simple tools, you will learn how to carve printing blocks and transfer your designs onto fabric. You’ll leave with your own, custom-printed fabric and the knowledge and tools to work on more projects at home.

Supplies: All the special tools you’ll need to get started will be supplied, as well as a yard of cotton muslin fabric to practice on.

Sustenance: Snacks, beverages and a tasty locally sourced lunch will be provided.

Your instructor, Jen Hewett, is a San Francisco-based printmaker, surface designer and teacher. Jen and her brightly-printed bags have been featured in the San Francisco Chronicle, Anthology Magazine, UPPERCASE, and Design*Sponge. She has taught hundreds of students both online and in person and has led workshops for corporate design teams.

The Workshop is open to the public. Because sharp tools are used, this class is limited to adult students.
